Browsing through some home videos (no, not those ones...), I found one of me & my then girlfriend's holiday in Tenerife in about May 2000. We were in the Marina in Los Christianos, admiring all the yachts we'd never afford. There's a 10-second shot of a gen 2 Surf parked at the marina, with me saying, "Mmmm, Hilux Surf. She will be mine, oh yes, she will be mine..."
And now I have one! Hahahahahaha! Ahahaha! Hahahah!
But since we bought it, my now wife gets to drive it more than I do. My Corolla isn't as thirsty, so I can't argue with her logic that it makes more sense for me to commute in that and not the Surf. Dang.
I guess it'd be clever to let her bond with it for a while - that way, when I tell her it "needs" new torsion bars, springs, dampers & bushes, or a good treatment of Dinitrol products on it's belly, she'll be more sympathetic.
