air filter

new member and need some help with my gen2 kzn130 surf. Mine has an aftermarket KN air filter, im putting back on the original air filter box and pipes. In the top section of the air filter box, in the section that connects to the flexible top hose going into the engine, there is a predrilled hole? What is this for, wont it allow contaminants into the engine as it is placed post the air filter?

if that's it, then that is where the air temp sensor goes, its probably hanging down in the engine bay.

Thank you, thats exactly the problem and i have found the sensor just dangling?
