  • kz-t and kzte difference

Hey have an issue after an engine swap. Check engine light is on and possibly lacking power. The mechanic reckons the fuel pump could be different between auto and manual any other suggestions?
    My Surf is a kzn185 3.0l 97 auto intercooled surf. The donor vehicle is a kzn185 3.0l 96 none-intercooled manual.
the dip sticks are on different sides does this mean they are different engines kz-t and kz-te? If so does that mean i now have a manual fuel pump in my engine?
do i need to put the original pump back in or is there an easy fix? dont the aussie guys put in mechanical pumps to get more tuning?

Personally i don't see why the manuals would use different pumps, how you changed gear has nothing to do with how the diesel is delivered

Are you using the intercooled engines ecu?
    Yes it's a V8, don't you know I'm loco?

Yep using the intercooled ecu. ive read that the kzte engine came with autos and the kzt with manuals but this could be wrong

Maybe try the non intercooled ecu, I'm not exactly sure if there's a difference but if you've swapped a whole engine u might as well do the ecu

That will not work as the donor vehicle is manual and his is auto. The ECUs are different.

I think intercooled models have a sensor on the intercooler (temperature?) so maybe that is the problem. Maybe that is why you have the check light on. Is it still auto or did you change to the manual?

Post the Model and Frame number of your vehicle and I will try to look up any difference in pump or other things with the donor engine. Not an easy task, but may find something to help.

First is a 01/96 model and yours is a 03/97. Both have the same injection pump.
