  • Rear Seat Belt Trouble

    Hi All,

My rear left seat belt has gone wonky. It won't pull out from it's retractor. I have been using it to retain a baby seat. There's an oval metal loop, with what looks like a mounting bracket attached to it, still on the actual belt. It's loose - ie, it slides up & down the belt. I can fish this loop out from the hole in the inner panel where the belt exits.

I'm assuming I'll have to take the inner trim panel off to get at the mechanism?

The belt seems to be still anchored, just not pulling out.

Codlord, your site has an article showing how to get the panel off - can you remember if you could see the belt reel when the panel was off?

Is this a job best left to a pro?

The Tensioner is spring loaded so be careful as you could do yourself some damage if you dismantle it.

worth having a look to make sure it's nothing obvious... might just be where it hasn't been moved for a while the ratchet thingy's got stuck... a few bangs and tugs would cure it.

but taking it apart it's a bit like a tape measure inside and will all fly apart and never be right again!
