  • Steering wheel for 94 hiluxsurf

Just bought a 94 import, lovely motor but after-market steering wheel has no horn or cruise control.

Where can I get an original steering wheel?

Are there good hiluxsurf mechanics in the Birmingham area?

    Hi Rob

    Welcome to the forum

Look in the for sale section and you will probably find someone breaking a surf that will have the steering wheel going for a reasonable price.

There was also a sponsor of the forum call Jap 4x4 parts, might be worth searching for them.

What work are you looking for in Brummy land, I'mve never found anyone to specialise in them , so tend to do as much as possible myself and might be able to help out

      Steering wheel for 94 3.0 4 Runner

      Thanks, Growler.

Will look for steering wheel in 'For Sale' section...or breakers in Birmingham area.

Then look for someone who can fit the s/h steering wheel, not being mechanically inclined myself.

Is that the sort of job you can do? Which part of Brum are you in?

      All best,

      Rob

          Thanks, Alex and Growler.

Good to know parts from other Toyotas fit the mighty Surf.

We gave away the wife's ageing, dodgy Avensis... might have kept it if we'd known.

(The Avensis was ageing, she's young and lovely I hasten to add, in case she reads this and misunderstands the technical discussion.)

Now I think about it, this vehicle is destined for Africa, where cruise control isn't that useful (not so many 30/40/70 mph limits in the bundu)...

And I can get a 'universal horn' for £15 or an airhorn for £30.

Maybe live without the cruise control, keep the nice little non-standard steering wheel and just fit the horn? (Legal requirement here, also v. useful in Africa when rhinos or big cats approach.)

Decisions, decisions... but if we weren't good at making them we wouldn't have Surfs, would we...?

          All best,

          Rob

Africa???? Which part of Africa is this Surf coming to?

Rob, I have got just the thing for you! One of them Fiamm Fultone things for lorries (half way down the link page).

I had one in an old Nissan pick up, it kept the buffaloes and cyclists out the way!

Forgot to dismantle it when I sold it!

              Hi Rob

Yes I can swap steering wheel over for you when you get one, I am in Harborne.

There was a breakers in Stirchley that used to have surfs and other 4x4 trucks in, near the plumb centre from memory

                  Steering wheel for Surf

                  Thanks, Growler and Tashtego.

Just been talking to the missus (official Surf owner): steering wheel plans on hold at present... discussing when we'll be taking this vehicle to Africa.

To answer your question, Tashtego: ZIMBABWE. Let us know if you ever come that way, from Blantyre Malawi. If we're in we'll put the kettle on.

                  All best,

                  Brummie Rob

                    Indeed!

Or even better, put a couple of them Zambezi lagers in the fridge!

I used to work in Harare many years ago and I still visit every now and then. The road from Tete to the Zim border has been redone and turned into a toll road! So it's about 9 or 10 hours from my place to Harare.

Zim police know my surf well, I've collected handfuls of speeding fines over the years...

You can get in touch with Bundubasher on here, he keeps his surf in Bulawayo.

                    Cheers!
