Hi all, I have a Toyata Surf LN130 2.4 Diesel 1993 Urban Sporty, I have owned it since April 2004 she came in the county in December 2003 I have owned her for 11 yrs, she is black with all Crome on her, well she has been parked up for about a yr on my drive, I am very attached to her, I know it's just a car, I decided it was time I sold her, I had someone interested in her, I got her MOTed she only failed on rear fog light, I have just put a new alternator on her, now all of a sudden she has developed a diesel leak some times it leaks when you run her and then it stops, the bloke at garage says I need a new diesel pump, I have rang round to try and find one and no one has one, would it be cheaper to send mine off to get fixed, I was thinking because she has been stood it could be the rubber seals or does anyone know we're I could get a diesel pump from, it's a shame as she is in very good condition slight bit of rust on bottom of drivers door and a couple of stone chips on the bonnet, I spent over a £1000 on her in 2013 new bumpers, bushes all round, 2 rear shock absorbers and front exhaust section. The guy that was interested in her has now pulled out, which I fully understand, but there again if this is a big job then I am going to have to put the price up on her to reflect the job, so I am looking at a way to fix her as she is to good to scrap, I keep calling a her as I named her Betsie.

I'm replying because no one else has yet!! I don't know an awful lot but, to refurb my diesel pump on my kzn130, i was quoted £1400!!! Roughtrax do a pump seal kit for circa £100 I think, but it's quite a job to fit them.
Replacement pumps are like rocking horse farts...

Hi Deborah. The seal on my old 2,4 also went. If its the seal at the top of the pump it can be replaced with the pump in situ iirc. Much cheaper!

1/2 hour labour at garage or diy. Cures leak in majority of cases.

Also renew fuel filter, filling with atf fluid. helps to swell pump seals & stops leaks.

otherwise do what had being said and try to do yourself.

What the guys said about too much info is true and you just need your general location i.e. Kent (this is an open forum so anyone could just search and it would come up on google with your add). Also never put your full email or phone # in posts unless you get rid of it shortly afterwards(separate with commas spaces or line breaks then remove afterwards as the google bots crawl all over the web (just have a look at who’s online now tab to see).

Anyhow if the leak is on the top that’s not too bad but if it does need a re-furb it should be about £400 inc labour from a diesel specialist (or a marine motor company), there was a recent thread here

It’s worth having a look through the recent posts or try a search for your information from the search bar at the top of the page.

Hey, Welcome to the forums.

When the fuel pump went on mine we took it (Just the pump) to TT Automotive in Loughborough. They replaced the seals and adjusted the timing as it was slightly out for £225. I believe they had it for just under a week.

Looking at your Location you may well be better of looking at other Surf owners in or near your location able to help n if not, they maybe able to point ya in the right direction.
There are a quite a few Surf Guru's on here able to help but outside your area. Stevo "Engines" (who used to frequent this Forum) I can't remember exactly where he's at but think somewhere in/near ya area... if ya do a search I;m sure ya'll find some info .. Hope this helps
