  • Bonnet gas struts

Hi all, fitted gas struts to the bonnet yesterday - well worth it. Instead of having to weld mounting plates I just riveted into the box section stuff that stiffens the bonnet. Hopefully the rivets will last!

A good job and good for those who don't want to weld

You should post some detailed pics for those that would like to copy

The Redline gas lift kits use rivets anyway!

I've had no issues with mine, a year and a half in.
      More Lift.
      More Tyres.
      More Engine.

Haha, they sure do. But they don't use bolts for the bottom bracket - drilled the pre-drilled holes a little larger to accept the bolts I had for a little extra strength.
Good to know your rivets are holding up!

Will do soon as it stops pi$$ing it down.
There is useful info on this forum in the meantime. Just remember that if the top and bottom brackets are mounted too close together, (with the bonnet in the closed position), then when you close the bonnet after fitting the struts it'll all rip apart. But if the brackets are a little further apart (5mm or so maybe) then this gives a little room error.
