I need help! I've just turned 20 and I'm looking to buy a 3.0 surf, but the cheapest insurance quote I've had is £1000 by Adrian Flux. I've tried all the ones suggested by Koi but most of them say we don't do under 25's or we don't do imports. Does anyone know of any others that are worth a look?

    lifsure?

Not sure if Lifesure would help you www.lifesure.co.uk they sorted us out brilliantly and my Dad just got a bargain with them on his Paj. There is a posting somewhere that has a huge long list of companies to try - we found it very useful.

I'm guessing the ones Koi has listed in the Sticky posts (see bottom)

Stop moaning though mate - Im 20 and just changed my adress from Oxford back to London and Im now paying about £1900 instead of £900 FULLY COMP!
... oh and the best bit.... I drive a Vauxhall Astra 1.7 Turbo Diesel! read it and weep then realise how cheap your quote is. I'd pay 1k with no quibbles. I want a Surf and been quoted £2300 by Tesco (with Cat 1) so im going to ask Adrian Flux for a quote.
Frodo where do you live mate? Any points etc etc?
Cant wait a few months untill im 21... then they'll tell me you need to be 25... then 30....

Another one to try is Liverpool Victoria http://www.liverpoolvictoria.co.uk/If you get a muppet that says they don't do imports or it isn't on their system. Try again 'cause they do!

That happened to me when I had a Golf GTi from 21. I never won and I had it for nine years, probably the most expensive car to insure I ever had. Cost more than the car was worth.

yep... my car cost £850 makes me sick... in Ox at least I was paying equal to the cost of the car. Its just been broken into so another £50 for glass excess! If I have to pay another few hundred quid to insure a Surf at least:
A: the car would be a whole lot nicer
B: my insurance would be less than the cars value - sorted

I got online quote from Tesco and they only list Surfs from 92 onwards, also they dont seem to have any Auto models, weird. I guess ill have to ring round.

Try Footman James £440 for 34yr old, 1yr no claims on a '92 2.4, you'll find them in the back of most car mags

Got mine two days ago with kwik fit, after much haggling managed to get it for £420 fully comp (41 yrs and full no claims)

Oh and been promised further reduction of £17.49 when I confirm brand of Cat1 alarm being fitted before I pick her up 2morrow. Makes you wonder if it's worth putting on a alarm in the first place. Only do so cos I picked up the habit living in Big Smoke and I got used to the dawn chorus on weekend mornings when the scumbags had left the clubs.

you won't get a discount for having a thatcham approved alarm, just won't be covered for theft without it...
