  • Parts help please

Hi all - I had a light(ish) coming together with a Hilux Pickup (LN165/1998-R) this morning, and I need to find a part.

It's the arm that connects the steering to the inside of the drivers side front wheel. It's not an idler or pitman arm, seems to be bolted to the back of where the disk cover is if you know what I mean.

With it being bent, the toe of the vehicle is out, and the wheel is pulled out slightly. If anyone can tell me what the part is, I'd really appreciate it so I can get one ordered and sent to them asap.

    Cheers.

    Track rod end?

If the bump was hard enough to bend one of those, I would get the steering rack checked as well, maybe renew the bushes too.

I think it's the steering arm, it's what the track rod end is connected to wheel side. It's bent it upwards slightly - the part has three holes, one that the track rod end goes into, on a horizontal plane, the other two connect it to the wheel assembly, and are on the vertical plane.

No - it's not the same setup on the Hilux it seems - it's more like this:

Thats a steering/Pitman arm. Did the pickup have a solid front axle?

I thought you were talking about your 3rd gen in your original post, this being a SURF forum an' all!

No - I hit a Hilux with the Pajero. Don't know if the pickup had a SFA or not, was a little shaky at the time. Just found and ordered one from a breakers and got it shipped to them.

Thanks for the sanity check. And I know this is a Surf forum, but it's full of knowledge of lots of stuff.
