I, like most of you I'm sure, have the best Surf I can afford. I could have had a better/newer different car for the same money, with no head/rear window motor/saggy bottom/chassis rust etc. concerns, but my 1990 Surf is my dream car in my actual, real-life, cash buy (ie, no car loan), pre-lotto win price range.

I passed a huge house in Galway at the weekend, which had a '04 Range Rover AND a '04 Aston Martin Vantage (or Vanquish - she wouldn't let me turn back for another look) in the drive.

If I could afford any car or number of cars, I think I'd still have to have a Surf, probly a late gen2 SSR-G 3.0. I'd also have a muscle car like the Vantage.

For fun, and cos it's self gratifying to doss while at work, how about a list of cars we'd own from each category, if money were no option.

Here'smy suggested categories, and my choice in each...

Pure Off Road Toy - Land Rover Defender 90 2.5 (300TDi) manual
Muscle Car - Aston Martin V12 Vanquish or Lister Storm
Sports Car (Road) - Mitsubishi FTO GPX
Sports Car (Track) - Nissan Skyline
    Classic/Vintage Car - Ford Cortina Mark 3
    Luxury Car - Jaguar XJ12
Everyday Car - Toyota Hilux Surf late gen2 SSR-G 3.0
    Family Car - Ford Galaxy
    American Car - 1977 Chevelle

NOTE: I reserve the right to change my mind, either because I find something I prefer, or because of threats from other people.

Sports Car (Road) - Nissan 350Z
Sports Car (Track) - Porsche GT3
    Classic/Vintage Car - Jaguar SS100
    Luxury Car - 1996 Mercedes S500

Any more people put a Land Rover as their ideal 4x4 and the ban hammer is gonna start to swing!

i used to talk to my boss at my old work about this, he always wanted a aston martin for every day and rolls royce for posh... where as i'd be more likely to have an aston martin for posh and something more sporty for everyday...

not really into cars thaqt much that i'd know any great cars to get these days... those pagani zondas look fun but i don't reckon i'd get in one!

always fancied the idea of having a "wolf in sheeps clothing" motor, like a blok i know had a Escort van looked quite nice with body kit and RS500 alloys but at the end of the day it could still be a gypsy's breakdown van... but it had a highly tuned escort turbo lump, so powerfull that he could wheelspin the rims inside the tyres at some dumbass speed that i can't remember

once saw a mini pick up with a GT40 v8 in the back... i liked that!

stick a rocket on a go kart and i'm happy!

oh yeah, and i nearly bought a camaro with 2 tone green paint and a tan leather interior last year!... just too much watching 80's tv shows!... i'd prefer something like that to any classic british car and probably go for the a-team van over a transit! (or a painted up bedford!)

                    edit (again)
my mates dad when i was young was sales manager for the ford dealer... he had some cool cars, when the XR4 came out we went for a spin and his mum had a yellow Mk2 escort that was cool cos rally drivers had them! (but hers was a pop plus!)

hehe, but not where it matters, If I'm building a dream 4x4, I want Mr Toyoda to be involved.

When it comes to horsepower and large cars, I look over the pond.
