  • 3l, in to a 2.4 body and chassis

in this idea/ project i hope i can find the whole amount of differences big, and small between the 2, 2.4, and 3l, while i'm doing this, i will be trying to improve things to my taste, but i will appreciate ideas, counsel, or knowledge, thanks in advance.

    first, the 3l

A lot better than mine! Which is why I'd love to take it apart and just clean it up without the body on.

Got lots of clean parts, like wishbones, that I'm doing up, off the truck, and will swap over...but your project looks far more fun

lifted the body of the chassis with a farm jack (no health and safety around)

its just 10 bolts, brake lines and handbrake, and the fuel tank and hard/soft cables came i the same loom, handy to know where is the grommet just in case i want to add some stuff

He's showing the bent chassis not the bit of rust!

and had done several bits, that i thought complement with 2" balljoint spacers, heavy torsion bars and so far +2" front shocks 30mm spacers in front.

the engine mounts arent in the same place on the 2.4 as in the 3l.

                2.4

so i removed the engine mounts of the 2.4, if anyone want them, let me know, i will be using the ones of the 3l.

i don't have a welder (tig,or mig), so im waiting for my friend to come and help me with that,

so, meanwhile im getting ready a spare fuel tank where the under slung wheel should be

got this tank very cheap quite some time ago

my mate is changing the pipes to be on the right side,
the fuel pick up and connection is of a vw transporter.

i will be using this switch over valve

that you can buy it here

another difference than the engine mounts, is the hoses for heating the inside of the surf

                      2.4

                      3l

i will see what other differences are there, that i didn't know, or realized

i didn't noticed your post, i was busy trying to find the pics, yes, i hope i can do the most when its dry, because i haven't any kind of shelter to do it on the dry.

very welcome to give me any ideas, or better way to do things.

im thinking too to fit an intercooler from a landcruiser (with the same engine, 1kzte) that its being sitting on a field for about 2 years (being told by next door farmer)

Can't think of a better way to clean a chassis than remove the whole top part of the truck.

                          I've got access envy

                              thanks,
when the time comes its on my list to have a rear bumper attached to chassis or tow bar similar as the one at the front (if i can fix that one),
do you have any done like your jimmy?
