Hello all,

I'm based near Swansea. Don't own a Hi-Lux yet but viewing one this Sunday. Hopefully an oldie but goodie (Surf 3.0td, auto, L reg.) My expectations are low!

This is my first 4x4. No doubt lots of learning ahead of me.

Well, the Surf viewing was satisfactory and "Ruby" passed her first test: 110miles back from N Wales!

She's a 1994 3.0TD Auto SSRX, 165,000km. Imported 2004.

Everything works and nothing leaks. Her bum isn't sagging, despite the pic below. She does vibrate at 55mph, which I hope is just a wheel balance issue. Last MOT had only two advisories, one was for slight play in front wheel bearings, the other for slight play in a ball joint of the offside, front anti-roll bar linkage. Is this a more likely cause for the vibration?

BTW, I'm not into naming cars but this one is "Ruby", to endear it to the missus.

She chose her own name; first song on the radio was "Ruby my Love" by Cat Stevens, second song "Ruby, Ruby, Ruby!" Different channels so it must be fate...
