yes indeed, nearly two ton in weight and manual drum brakes all round with the vaguest power steering you've ever felt. All changing though, going to be manual steering and disc brakes soon

Yeah the designers have said since that the brakes were a bit poor...though I kinda like that in a car, makes it more interesting.

its interesting alright, the brakes themselves are actually very good. They just don't belong on a car with over 300bhp that weighs that much, they stop it, but, suffer from brake fade and the imbalance in the steel of the drums causes the car to wander under heavy braking.
Nice to have in all original condition but, in todays traffic congested roads and motorways, discs make more sense.

If you're ever up this way or passing by, you'd be more than welcome, all being well it will hopefully be at Santa Pod the last weekend in July if you're gonna be anywhere near there

If I ever get up that way ... A mate does santa pod every year but not likely I'll have any time off, new job and all that jazz. Only 93 miles as well

Grab a few pics of your brake mods fella.

I wish it was only 93 miles for me, its a 6 or 7 hour drive from here, and at 10 to the gallon, lol.

Might be a while before the brake mods are done but I'll grab pics of it and post em up

10 to the gallon, makes the Surf look cheap to run!

I had a V8 converted Series III once that did 6, cost me 3 hours work to drive to the job lol.

lol, they do have there downsides don't they. I'm hoping by the time it's finished (if its ever finished) that it will handle and corner while showing off a supercharger and NOS bottle, fully expect it to be down to maybe 4 to the gallon by then, with a 16 gallon tank, I might have to start thinking about towing it on a trailer to long distance shows / events

                          Oh yes,

I have a mate up here that has a fifties chevy he trailers to drag strips, it only does about 2 to the gallon, he fills it up and can drive it from the pits to the start line, does the race and back to the pits and that's it, empty tank! Has to be seen to be believed mind

Sounds a lot like one a mate of the Mrs has...must have a pic somewhere, cost him £17,000 to build...get a crowd in the pterol station mind.

Not been in in..sounds the business...but it only leaves the garage if the 5 month forcast is for a heat wave.

he's owned it 33 years and rebuild it 3 or 4 times...so more like a family member than a car.
