Ive had 2 seater in the back but waş a bit tight and a 3 seater on the roof bars
depends on size of sofa I had too take the feet off to get it in

Depends how big the sofa is really. We have a three seater one here, and it's about 7' long, so that won't, and it's too wide as well. Better get the dimensions, and measure it all. Chair on the roof...have you got a roof rack? If you just have rails (retro fitted) they may not take the weight that any wind resistance would generate as you drive.

I did about 8 mile with 3 seater ratchet strapped to a pair of Thule roof bars,that got a few strange looks

I didnt have the dimsensions but went and picked it up anyway, slided in fine but stuck out about 3ft, so left the tailgate down and selotaped my reg on a a4 paper to the side of the sofa

had to leave the chair though, not enough straps to hold it down
