  • Cursing the Frontera

Used the woman's frontera to shift the Lexus today. Reversing into the drive and stalled it a couple times. It wouldn't start so I left it for a half hour and it fired again. Running lumpy, like it was on three cylinders. Wouldn't rev above 1100 revs.

I trailered it to a mechanic. He won't be looking at it till next week though.

    Have I f@&ked it?

    Cheers
    Paul

Stinky oil burner Vince. 2.2DTi. I heard they were guilty of dropping injectors whatever that means.

The information I have found so far says crank sensor fault or vacuum pipe come somwhere around the EGR valve.
Did the engine check light come on?

Okay, no there was no lights on the dash. When I dropped it off at the mechanics I left it on the trailer but tried to start it. It would churn and churn and when I let go of the key it would stutter as if it was about to fire. Tried turning the key again but just repeated the process.

          Thanks Vince.

We have a 2.5TD Frontera, ours did something similar. Turned out to be a damaged pushrod, luckily there was no other damage, replaced the pushrod, put it all back together and everything was ok again.

Think the 2.5 are a better engine. The mechanic plugged his diagnostics in and reckons it's the fuel pump. So it's going on ebay spares or repairs. If it doesn't sell it's getting scrapped.

I had 2 Frontera's both had head gasket problems, both had lots of fault lights everywhere flashing up on the dash. Now have a 3rd gen Surf happy days.

Missus has a 59 plate diesel Zafira that's just as bad as the ###### Frontera's!
Egr valves x 2 (still in bits now)
                Gearbox bearings at 49000 miles!
                Alternator pulley 44000 miles.
                Kills tyres.
                Totally unreliable useless vehicle.
                I'll never buy Vauxhall again.
