    Hi everybody
just purchased a Max Ellery manual which is supposed
to cover surfs 96 on, but there is hardly anything relating
to the 3rd gen surf, and nothing about the muti-mode 4wd
or add system so not really alot of use!!

Thanks mate i'll give them a try,
it seems that muli-mode is a bit of a black art as far
      as fixing it is concernd.

iam in the blessed 2.4 trying to fix my 4wd system is also a work of art

a leaver would have been more wise a way to engage 4wd less asel

What and do away with the ever so easy and not complicated ADD and transfer case motor.........

I'm hoping to have another crack at mine this weekend.

It's looking like it may be trial and error.
Have to say it's getting me down now!!! but thanks for your help.

              Not much chance of that!

Can the motor be replaced with a lever? Just a thought for the future really...

I have been wondering about future proofing.
The rod just pushes in and out to activate the 4wd.
Low ratio is via a lever, so I can't see why not?

                More head scratching perhaps.
Will see what occurs this weekend weather wise but seeing as there is snow forecast for tonight......

Was talking with a friend today who did remark that their usual lunchtime stroll to the river didn't take as long and perhaps a boat might be required soon to get to the Tescos.

I went to take some stuff back to b and q in Reading...its a lake, and KFC has become a swim though...

On the 4WD front, one day those motors won't be around...and I kinda like manual stuff, be interesting to see if the motor can go...maybe after I get round to making fiberglass bumbers to replace my rust ones.

They did say B & Q was a bit empty!!

On the motor front though it does take a fair bit of force to push the rod in.
So what ever is used will have have some grunt behind it.
It needs to be simple and robust (and not cost the earth)

any idea how far the rod travels?
might have a cunning plan using a pto actuator

So it will need some leverage...god I might need maths!

Cunning plan eh? As long as it doesn't involve a turnip
Without actually measuring it I would say 30mm.

I would have thought inflatable arms bands or water pumps would be more suitable

                          And math God no.
I have twisted my head up enough working out which way the gears and and motor shaft turn in relation to the large contact disk and where it should be let alone force multipliers.......

it would be nice to make that a little more reliable/simpler.
