Laserline alarm

Hi All,
I have got a strange issue with the Laserline alarm on my Gen 3. It was fitted to the truck when we bought it but the seller didn't have the manual or any instruction book.
All has been well for 18 months but a fault had just reared it's head and I wondered if anyone had a similar issue and what the solution is.

Symptoms: Alarm/Immobiliser completely dead - truck won't start and none of the fob buttons or the 'electronic key' do anything.
Disconnect battery for 30 mins and reconnect. Truck starts and alarm/immobiliser works for repeated locking, unlocking, starting and stopping. Fob works and electonic key works. Leave for 5 mins with engine off and everything is dead again.
Repeat by disconnecting battery for 30 mins and it goes again!

Any ideas?
Has anyone stripped a Laserline system out of a truck? If so, is it a big/difficult job?

Alarm problems

Hi Mark,
My 3rd Gen 1996 3ltr Surf has a Laserline Alarm fitted. I had it installed 10 years ago, and have all info about installing and operating said alarm. The model fitted is the 291 with 921K/T immobiliser. This combination upgrades the alarm to Thatcham 1. Have you got the LED connection in the interior, if so does it flash any code. If it flashes 10 times pause, then repeats, the manual says the alarm internal battery is dead. If 9 then pause, the remote control needs a new battery, let me know with your email addy and I can send any info you might need.

Thanks for the replies. I have spent some time this afternoon trying to understand the system.
Mine is a 291 as well and I have the red LED and 3 prong electonic thing . I found a Laserline black box in the drivers footwell behind the plastic cover just in front of the drivers door opening. It is about half the size of a packet of fags. Is this the main unit or one of the add ons?
There is a second smaller box (size of a book of matches) which has wires going to the LED/3 prong widget.
I have tried to follow the sequence of flashes and bleeps it gives out but can't really sort out the numbers. There have been some sequences with 10 flashes without a break so this could be the internal battery.
Assuming the alarm back up battery is failing, how do you replace it?
