When I found that the top seal on my pump had failed and was dribbling fuel I didn't have any other sealants at hand other than

The truck had to be back on the road so I gave it a try and it worked ok as a stop gap till I got the proper seal kit.
It was still ok a year or so later
The brake fluid helps to swell and soften the seals again a temporary measure, but if it saves you making a mess of your tarmac.
I put in a couple of egg cups worth, and a bit more when it started leaking again.

Remove the air filter can and hoses to give you a bit more room.
Clean the top of the pump to stop carp getting in.
Undo the big nut around the "spark plug" first then using a very good fitting Allen key undo the Allen bolts.
I'm sure there is more details on the forum about this, but it is really quite easy just take your time and keep it all clean and you will be fine.
Having someone to give you hand if you are unsure is always helpful .

Use a very good fitting Allen key
