  • Is this normal?

Came back from Tesco and noticed this "leak" under the car. No drips on the ground though so not if it's Normal or a problem I need looked at.

Any suggestions on what it is? Cheers!

From those pics it looks like grease being thrown of the prop.....

....why were you laying under your car at Tesco?

Ha, dropped the keys as I was putting the shopping into the car.

Is this something I need looked at? The reason I ask is I'm planning on having the underbody primed and waxoiled pretty soon. Wouldn't want to have it all undone so soon!

If it's grease from the prop it's likely just excess from greasing the joint or sliding section...wipe it off and don't worry. It'll be back next time the props greased.

Go stick a finger in it and double chack it's grease for peace of mind.

Once you've stuck your finger in it to make sure it's grease, you might as well double check by tasting (live life on the edge)
          Non consternationes.

Would the grease spraying out not suggest a duff shaft or seal? The mrs frontera does the same and it has play between the shafts.

Worth checking I'm sure...I must confess I had assumed it was just excess grease....

It's a sliding open joint. If its dry, without grease oozing out then it is going to wear. Clean the grease off the body and re grease regularly.

Its normal for any excess grease to find its way onto the underside as in your photo, i just changed a universal joint on the rear of my propshaft and thats just the norm from the sliding joint as Mark has pointed out.
