Biodiesel,Vegetable oil or other fuel options???

Ive just joined the forum so im sure this topic was mentioned before.
Does anybody here use or know of other fuel options for diesel engines at all?
I would like to know the good and bad ideas.

I use ktc vegetable oil. Cheap either from supermarket or cash and carry. Be warned though it can get very thick when the weather gets cold so makes pumping difficult. Options are either blend with normal diesel or have a heating system installed.
I run a heat exchanger which starts off electric and then changes over to hot water pipes when they're up to temperature. Helps with cold starts, but I'll still add about 1/4 tank of diesel if it's going to get very cold.
