  • 5L Toyota red premixed cooland £34 + VAT

    Are you sure ?

Having been quoted £29.99 for 20 litres of red concentrated this came as something of a shock, especially as for a full refill it appears we need approximately 10.5 litres !

It turns out the concentrate was from the trade counter, not open on weekends.

Anyway must be damned good stuff !

    Cheers + ATVB

You only need 5l of the concentrated stuff, which is about £20 in Halfords.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

It was just the main dealer price shock more than anything !!!

£29.99 for 20L concentrate seemed a good dealer, £34 + VAT for 5L premixed seemed like robbery as two would be required !

I suppose if you're going for a 'Group buy', it is a good deal.

Dealer prices surprise many people; a lot of the time they're cheaper than, or very close to, aftermarket prices. People in the trade realise that, punters don't; that's what factors rely on

I'm gunna say this one last time!!!!!

DO NOT put toyota "the pink stuff" concentrate in your surf.
You need to buy the toyota pre mix RED.
If its not broke don't fix it.

            Why and how ?

            Why ?

The 5L concentrate says "RED" !

How can you flush the whole system with a hose and get a 50% concentration with the premixed 50/50 stuff ?

You are using a hose to flush all the old coolant out of the system .
Depending on how you carry out the flushing will determine how you ensure that you have drained as much water out as possible.
              Hoses off the block
              Drain tap on rad
              Rear heater connections
It all depends how thorough you want to be.
Don't forget the expansion tank too.
The 50/50 mix will from memory serve you down to -36'c so as long as it isn't too diluted you should be safe, that is unless you are planning on using your vehicle in some seriously cold places.
But basically if you are unsure of what do to, why not pay someone to do it for you.

I use Toyota premixed red coolant in both my vehicles and it has doubled in price over the last 3 years which as you say is extortionate, the first time I bought it around 8 years ago it was £15.00 5 ltrs then it went up to £17.50 where it stayed for some time then shot up to £30.00+ , but I wouldn't use anything else so just grin and bear it as everything coming out of Japan at the moment is rising in price, especially car parts and funnily enough glass, even the companies they own in this country are showing price rises.

Simply there are at least 2 schools of thought.

                  Pre-mixed Toyota Red

                  Red Toyota concentrated.

                  Plus

Another quality anti-freeze or coolant will do the job just as well....

So what would you like to hear ?
                    Toyota Red is expensive.
                    Halfords is less expensive.

                      Pre-mixed is expensive.

                      Concentrate seems reasonable.

                      Both Toyota Red.

That was all I was saying...

It is expensive but it should last 5 years
If you get neat you still need to mess about with demin water.
Toyota red will also give you peace of mind if that sort of thing is important.
