Tyre Valve Help

Went to take the truck out this morning to find the nearside rear sitting on the rim.

Got it pumped up and took it to local tyre place only to be told it is the valve that's knackered and they don't stock them

As mine come up on the inside of the rim and then have a bend of approx 80-90 degrees to bring it to where it is accessible for pumping up, no one locally has any in stock.

Anyone out there any ideas as to where I can get some from, tried google but it was coming up with adapters and small versions for motor bikes

Same here when I did a search. Just ended up making some new rubber seals and they were fine. Is it definately the metal outer valve tube thats corroded?

Try one of the truck tyre places, I've always managed to get strange valves and extensions for our tankers in the past!

Arent those like the ones that get fitted on the inside set of wheels on a twin wheel set-up?

If so, ATS or the likes should have them.

Like Andy says. Twin wheel van or pickup should have a similar valve stem on the inner rears. TBH, it's poor form for a so called tyre specialist not to have a decent assortment of different lengths and shapes of valve stems. Good luck Andy.

There are also flexible extensions in various lengths available. As MWS says,not good if your specialist wasn't at least aware of the options!

Mine aren't metal they are rubber and look to be standard pull through fitting. It is definitely the seal to the rim that has gone.

That was my thoughts, all said yes we can fix tyre or sell you a new one, can't fix a 3 quid valve though. Can't believe they only do bog standard fittings, and don't look out for the commercials around here.

Flexible extension won't work as a standard valve would be up against the brake drum on the rear, might of got away with it on the front

Not at first looks, they are either adapters, extensions or look to short and won't clear the wheel centre

ATS are about the only place i haven't tried yet, they close Sundays, so hoping to get there in the week.

I had the same problem, went to local motorcycle shop, got moped valves, they 90 deg and rubber.

Vince, I'll try and get one tomorrow for you.

Tried the local ATS and they said, sorry but no chance we got one of those.

Found another tyre place who said, leave it with us a few days and we will sort it. Seems they are getting there supplier to check his stock for a matching valve once they strip the old one out.

We'll see what happens

This is the one that's been removed from the rim







They one they have installed is approx 10mm shorter so I will have to add an extension piece to it so i can get access to the valve, but better than having it flat and unusable
