  • HiLex.....

Well its official, The HiLex just passed its MOT!!

I am absolutely chuffed to bits...

Everyone in the garage went over it with a fine tooth comb, and asid all sorts of nice things

It srill needs some finishing off and tidying up, but it works and is officially roadworthy!

    VVTi 3rd gen fun
    More Lift.
    More Tyres.
    More Engine.

Congratulations! Get some pictures and video up if you can tear yourself away from ruining your tyres...

        Cheers guys..

        I'm utterly chuffed to bits...

The garage that did the MOT asked if I had been a mechanic, and where I trained.. (um, I'm an IT consultant) and we headed to the pub later and just parked up it drew a few people interested (they could see how shiny it was underneath and took interest)

Once I popped the bonnet and saw the V8 they were very excited!

It's been hard work and I've put a lot of hours into it, being my first surf swap, and there being a lot less into on VVTi's, and 3rd gens builds to learn from....

Despite the fact that I finished getting it together at 5.45 am, and my alarm for work goes off at 7, I'm wide awake........ I can't believe it's MOT'd and taxed...

I still need to finish the cold air bits (currently unpainted mild steel, but it was needed as it holds the oil filter and ADD VSV gear) and sort the rev counter... (it works, but it shows nonsense)

But it goes and sounds a bit like this....

        https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater

Its quiet-ish at idle (with the exhaust warm, its a full cat back SS system) and can be driven quiet, but really barks when prodded.

Also the MOT centre did the emissions test as a 2000 LS400 (I'm not sure if this is right for a '97 ex diesel truck) but it passed anyway, with loads of room to spare!

No engine warning lights is a bonus too

Congratulations and well done. I cannot see that link unfortunately.

Why did you opt for vvti?

I'm not sure the rev counter will ever read right; I've been looking for a V6 instrument cluster (and handbrake) for ages but there just don't seem to be any in this country!
