  • 2" lift.

    Evening all,
just got my self a 2" body lift to go on my ln130. I woukd be greatful for a bit of advice regarding the steering shaft. Ive searched the forum and it says undo both joints and let it slide off the splines, but the shaft that comes out of the steering box has a grove for the bolt to go through,so how could this work or am i missing something. Many thanks up front Mick.

There's a bolt on the shaft above the pedals and another near the exhaust manifold.
No need to touch the bolt below the rag joint.

Your a star yet again, thanks very much Vince, as long as the weather holds out, that's the job for this week. Many thanks again.

Stick your day (when you do it) in here, please

You can never have too many people's thoughts and write-ups on this common procedure.

Yeh...I've researched it to death but like to see other's work. Will be doing mine when I get a free weekend.

              Remember the fuel hose, too.

I didn't bother undoing that, apparently getting it back on is a bit fiddly.

Mine hasn't leaked since I did the lift.

I suggest reading the guides on the 4Crawler site..

I can't speak for 2nd gen, but the 3rd gen write up covered everything.

I swapped out my 1" lift for a 2" lift on my 3rd gen recently to make the V8 an easier job...

It's surprisingly easy, and won't sag, like the springs did...
                  More Lift.
                  More Tyres.
                  More Engine.

Evening all, we'll had a good day today, when the little one went for his afternoon nap, managed to fit plasma dials, straight forward job and looks good. Wife got home from work so set about body lift, so far all is good. One side done, should get it finished tomorrow. Thanks to all for advice given. Will post pics when all finished.

Afternoon all, ok 2 inch lift done, rad not moved down yet, so I was thinking if I got a 3 lt rad, blanked off the original rad cap on the engine and just had the one on the rad. Do you think this would work. Many thanks Mick.

Hey Mick. A mate of mine bought a 2.4 manual, and when he brought it round, I noticed that not only did it have a cap at the thermostat housing, but the radiator also had a cap. Maybe that was a 3.0 radiator. It didn't have the rad cap blanked off, just a normal rad cap with the overflow pipe tee'd into the normal ones pipe, and into the header tank. He never had any cooling problems ( although hid DMF went tits up, and he got rid ).

Hi, thanks for the replys. As my rad will need replacing soon I thought maybe a 3lt rad would work, and from what you say sounds like it could. Not only is that good news, but thay are cheaper to buy. Thanks again,Mick.

Evening all, body lift finished today just waiting for the bumper brackets. With the help from the good folks on here, it went very well (no probs at all).Steering joints moved nicely, front brake lines extended on there own. Didnt need to enlarge hole for the steering shaft, it just feels a little bit stiffer now nothing to worry about i dont think.
Regarding the rad,i didnt use drop brackets i used the next set of large holes down, thay are just in the right place. I also drilled two more large holes 2" down from them to allow the safty hooks to fit.
Really happy with it thanks again for advice. Mick.
