Please elaborate I'm sure it will be more interesting than the main subject matter.

Flaming, whining & general bullying/p155-taking.....so what if the particular subject matter has been done to death, the OP obviously felt the need to ask & why not?

As a rule of thumb I make every effort to help or at least make a positive contribution - if I don't like the thread, I stay off it.

Ditto! I also joined early, 2004, if I'm not wrong. Joined again when I got my current 3rd Gen. There's a lot of helpful stuff on here, but, as you say, lots of people with too much time on their hands and a small but vocal number of bullies. Was it Churchill (or Lincoln) who said in life people have often a choice, between speaking, and showing themselves as dimwits, or else to keep quiet and leave everyone in doubt. A small minority of people on here always take the first option. Bizarrely the date they joined seem to grant more respect/kudos. Unfortunately if someone was a twit in 2003 chances are he's still a twit in 2013.

Hmm and yet you decided to voice your opinion, well kudos to you.
As to making a positive contribution I think we can establish that as of yet no one thinks I need to run through rainbows or play with unicorns and that the price of kebabs are subjective to various factors, which. surprisingly is the point I was trying to with regards to insurance.

By the way please explain how you think that my post was, and to quote"Flaming, whining & general bullying/p155-taking" ?
If you think that then surely the best course of action would have been not to comment at ?
And really you consider that to be flaming/whining & general bullying? and you say you have been around for a while, then if that is the case then your skin must be so thin as to be almost transparent, and if you suffer from some medical condition that makes your skin transparent, then I will apologise for any harm that reference has caused. But my post was very very tame compared to some of the more confrontational posts on here.
I thought I was expressing an opinion and asking genuinely if it is just me who is bored with the insurance posts and found them irrelevant.

Shame really, but then probably a good thing as my thimble of care was a bit full.

Sorry for the pointless thread guys, wasn't my intention, as I say I was simply leaving work and still hadn't managed to insure the new truck, so thought I'd give you guys a shout, rather than search aimlessly for however long. I asked around at work and not surprisingly, no one there has multiple cars that they own and wish to drive at any time, hence I figured some of you guys must be in a similar boat to me, and might be able to point me to some unheard of company.

I have to admit I do wonder why people reply to threads they could supposedly care less about, I tend to judge books by covers, if the subject doesn't interest me, grab my attention or whatever, I don't waste my time, but to each his own, general rule of thumb is to just STFU. In all honesty why bother posting in a thread to see if anyone else finds it boring or pointless, almost everyone probably does agree with you, they've just got other stuff they feel is more important to be getting on with, maybe start a new interesting thread, or maybe a poll asking who's bored of dull posts

Anyway, I'm off to read about someone asking for the best place to get cheap tyres for their rusty truck :P

Humble apologies to fsaroyster, I should have tried to explain with greater clarity the train of thought behind my initial post.

I hope your Fourtrak gives you years of off road fun.

Insurance, however boring is a necessity, and I hope that you have found a deal which will provide the cover that you require at a price you find acceptable.
One thing I will add is, that even after you have probably spent hours trawling through comparison websites, I have found it beneficial after finding a quote, to phone that company and speak to one of the reps, I received an even larger discount after declaring some information that wasn't asked for via the on-line form.

I agree that Insurance threads are maybe a little less interesting than a V8 transplant thread but they are obviously important at the time to whoever it was that started them.

Through one of those dull threads I got details for a company that ended up giving me the best quote, wouldn't have known about them if it wasn't for the thread.

Just got a renewal through from Sky so doing the ring around, flux just quoted me £253.03 comprehensive SDP & C, 6 years NCB, £250 compulsory excess, no claims / convictions / points etc & truck on private ground overnight, age 34.

                        Cheers

                        Ben

                          How did you manage that!

They quoted me £460 and I'm 43, with a million years no claims, also on private land overnight.

No idea Andy, last time I had a quote from them it was was last year and it was about £450. My renewal from Sky came through at £263.03, exactly the same as it was last year which I thought pretty good but, I never accept a quote before shopping around. Told Flux what I had been quoted and the above is what they came up with. Off to try Sureterm, & A Plan just now before I get back to Sky.

Not a huge amount of car crime up here, could be a factor?

                                Cheers
