    To say it's a 2004, I know elsewhere it says 1994

    Dealer sales trick!

They quote the import date to get unsuspecting punters interested.

Who cares? It's an overpriced 2.4 with no history and, if it is on K plate (or, indeed a 2.4), isn't from 1994 either.

I just thought that it seems to be a common thing, Mine was described as a 2005 and it is on a private plate, eventually got seller to tell me it was a 1994 model.

I think if I was going to be shelling out any money soon on any motor, a bit of research would have told me that for a 2005 model I should be looking at a Fourth gen and not a Second gen.
Now if I could get a Fourth gen for Second gen money then just point me in the right direction , unless it is white and has an lpg conversion.

as sancho says, 94 is N or M plate not K and a 2.4 engine shouldn't have been on a 94 model either.

Sorry to burst your bubble mate but 1 or 2 politicians have been know to tell the odd little white lie.

I'd like to say never trust a dealer but I got my first surf from a dealer & it was a good experience for me. The guy was totally genuine & he actually knew about surfs. He gave me a 3 month warranty "nothing went wrong" but after 4 months the rear seal went on one side "diff oil coming out of drum". He said don't worry & ordered seals & arranged for me to have it done, took it to him & he changed both side while I waited as he said chances are you will need the other doing at some point & charged me nothing. I took it to him a couple of time over the years & he's been great, I wouldn't take my surf to anyone else now.
