I just thought that it seems to be a common thing, Mine was described as a 2005 and it is on a private plate, eventually got seller to tell me it was a 1994 model.

I think if I was going to be shelling out any money soon on any motor, a bit of research would have told me that for a 2005 model I should be looking at a Fourth gen and not a Second gen.
Now if I could get a Fourth gen for Second gen money then just point me in the right direction , unless it is white and has an lpg conversion.
I'd like to say never trust a dealer but I got my first surf from a dealer & it was a good experience for me. The guy was totally genuine & he actually knew about surfs. He gave me a 3 month warranty "nothing went wrong" but after 4 months the rear seal went on one side "diff oil coming out of drum". He said don't worry & ordered seals & arranged for me to have it done, took it to him & he changed both side while I waited as he said chances are you will need the other doing at some point & charged me nothing. I took it to him a couple of time over the years & he's been great, I wouldn't take my surf to anyone else now.
