  • 44 ball bearings.

Hi all, going to be taking my steering box apart this week to sort the leak out.
would like to know has anyone tried putting the 44 balls back in with the box still bolted in place, if so any tips of how to.
    Many thanks up front Mick.

dont know how much access you will have doing it on the truck i have never rebuilt a surf steering box.
i rebuilt one from a trooper and the only tip i can give is use a bit of light grease to stick the ball bearings in place, and dont drop any!!
    good luck

Thanks for your replys, do you think it is possible to push the balls down the worm thread once it has been put in about 3/4 of the way in.
        Thanks again Mick.

in the trooper box there was a tube to circulate the bearings from one end of the thread to the other which was in the way of them being put in with the worm screw already inserted.
again not sure if it is the same with the surf box but would assume its pretty much the same arrangement, im sure somebody more knowledgeable will be along soon.
