  • Surf In Sussex

    Hello,

I own a great 2.4 Surf, never had a (major) problem with it and has been pretty bomb proof.

I've now just got back from a sandy place after a 7 month infantry stint and its now dead....

It hadn't been started for a few months, I checked all levels, jumped it, lasted about an hour till major over heat.

Not had time to get it fixed back up until now and its been another 6 months since the last move;sworn, no mot, off the road. I'm pretty sure the head, radiator, alternator, batteries etc need replacing/renewing etc.

There is no real time limit on getting it back on the road so looking for a garage/individual who is looking for a project to get a great truck back on the road. Any comments, ideas welcome.

    Regards, M

    Hi, and welcome home

Try TonyN - he's in Basingstoke. Not a million miles.

These guys are well thought of and have a positive review somewhere on here. Bit closer I guess. I've never used them so, if you want to know it's in safe hands, go to Tony.

          are you sure?

I would have thought that if you are spending that sort of money you could get a rather decent 3.0l and save the hassle, perhaps recoup a bit by breaking the 2.4!
Did I mention I have a BLUE one

I paid £1k for the truck, if the estimate comes close to the cost of a good 3L then that's where the money will go and this poor truck will of up for spares....

I make that just shy of £2,800 before labour, which will be over a grand. That is very comfortably into 3 litre territory and should get you a nice 3rd gen. If you went and bought this off Yoshie, you'd have £1,200 left over:

              http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/showthread.php?t=79757

Once you break the 2.4, you'll get some of your net spend back.

The other thought if you like the truck is to get it lexurfed. I make about £1,600 of your total, and most of the labour costs, to be engine-related, so it could make financial sense.
