  • Urgent comfirmation need

    Hi guys

I need to replace my viscous fan coupling on my L reg 2.4 auto surf

Roughtrax want £283 but my local Andrew Page are saying they want £68 but the system states it from an Ln106 Hilux same year

does any one know if these are the same

    thanks in advance

Yes it will fit, they're basically the same engine.

Different part number. Same water pump on both engines so should bolt straight onto it. Other than that I don't know if fan mounting is different, or if the temperature setting is also different.

thanks for the quick response mate

I'm going to try the 6000wt (RC car) diff oil mod

        http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/showthread.php?t=70158

first and if this doesn't work then replace the whole unit

        thanks again

The LN106 one listed here - http://www.4x4world.com.au/shopping/...php?id=1265435 - also states that is for the LN130.

Second hand one no good for you?
Apologies if I'm barking up the wrong tree....shocking price. For that kind of cash you could go electric...

thanks mate will keep it in mind going to try filling it with 10.000cst oil first and see if that helps if not will let you know

the new rad fan is on and working a lot quieter than the stock one and seems to be much more efficient but not had a long run

                  will keep you all posted

thanks for everyone's help so far

You do know the principle behind the workings of the viscous fan, don't you?
Instead of just filling it with a heavier fluid, you would be better to check that the unit operates at the correct temperature.
Filling it with fluid is only part of the solution.

any opinions on the best hose to insert the capillary into for the fan control i know the norm is the top hose but thinking if i placed it into a lower hose it would still work if there was ever an issue with low water if you know what i mean

                        any thoughts appreciated guys

                        cheers

No offence intended but are you perhaps overthinking this a little?

Not read all posts but you can ajust the temp easily on the viscous fan.
Also re oil it while you have it out. Get it working properly..!
