The worst ones are the ones that don't really relate to anything; just a word on a number-plate for the sake of it. Like M3LON. And the owner has no connection whatsoever with fruit.
There are alot round this way with the first part of the post-code - AB51. And OIL1234 etc. (not far from Aberdeen).
Forgot to mention one I did see in Congleton, Cheshire - woman pulls up on double yellows outside high street shop in a SLK merc - plate was 5NOB - she certainly was one!
There seems to be a growing number of boy racers in hot hatches around here who insist on squeezing up the letters and numbers and putting the screw heads in the wrong place - and they still don't read anything
CLA 55Y made the news when it was issued, I remember watching it (I think it was on a Cortina?)! It was way before personalised plates became tradeable.
I don't mind them either way; some look naff, some look cool, I don't subscribe to the negatives about them. If someone wants to buy a different plate to the one they have; that's their business, not mine.
Remember, we all have personalised plates - so watch what you're saying about folk with more unusual ones than your own.
Personally, I'd have one if I could find the right one.
My favourites are:
W1 TCH on a Black M3 in Glasgow.
POT 80S on a fruit and veg van in Glasgow.
M1 NCE on a butcher's van in Camelon.
