  • Before I go off

    the deep end........

Can someone please explain how the effin drivers door window works.

I have continuity through the switch both up and down.

I have good continuity through the cables down to the window motor plug.

The window motor works both up and down, tested on the battery terminals.

The window goes down ok but will not go up.

With a volt meter + lead and - lead pushed into the window motor connector I have voltage forward and reverse.

With the plug in the right way the motor powers the window down but will not work in reverse.

If I swap the plug around thereby reversing the plug polarity the motor powers the window up.

Before I finally go bat crap crazy could somebody please help...

Wire/s broken in the flexy conduit between door and frame?

    Try this:
    Switch on ignition,
    Open window,
    Stand outside the truck,
Reach in through the window and hold the window switch in the 'window up' position and at the same time open the door slowly and see if the window moves.

Why does he have to get out and reach through window to do that? You lost me.

        Nev.

It's dry and sunny in the UK at the moment and we need all the UV rays we can get.

Just for the comedy value of someone getting their own arm stuck in the window.
It's a bit like managing to run over yourself.
          Non consternationes.

This level of stupidity is possible, any one remember when that pen@s from east17 managed to run himself over with his own car?

I should have mentioned that I when I was checking the wire resistance I was squeezing and tugging at the wiring loom, but I think I will give the door opening and closing a go though.

The multi plug from the door loom that you access behind the drivers footwell panel just feeds the other windows ? yes?
Are there any other gizmos involved hidden away that control the windows?

                I'll accept that explanation.

Wiring loom pulled out of door.
Loom pulled twisted and generally prodded but no difference.

Hey Gerard, Lukenemma was his user name. If you go through his previous posts it should keep you amused for a while. My specific reference was the thread where he told us all about dropping his truck on his leg. .

                            Sharknore,
Before this thread gets too oblique, can you let us know if you find the problem.
I have something similar with the rear door windows on my Gen 3 which is driving me mad. They both power down but not up. If you swap the switches over between the doors, they power up but not down!
I can't fathom out why but I am not an electrician.
                            Thanks,
                            Mark
