Hey would you have any info on the electrical trade in Christchurch as I have a final interview on Tuesday with a contractor in Christchurch for a job over there... It's a 6 month trial on my 1 year Woking holiday visa and if they are satisfied then I get a Permanen. Contract offer.

there work for Irish Spark. Over there.

Dont want to Jack in everything here and end up coming back in 6 months with my tails between my legs...

Ill have a we poke around tomorrow and let you know.

With the rebuild still taking place for a while (2011 earthquake) there is plenty of buildings going up so there work out there.

Anything in particular you want to know, and specialized fields of work?

Whos the company that's hiring you by the way?

On a lighter note, its surf heaven over here

I drive 4kms to work and pass at least 5 each day, super popular over here to the point that its probbly one of the most common vehicles on the roads

thanks a mill jess, i have my interview tomorrow evening so fingers crossed. if i dont get this job i think i am just going to go for it anyway as there seems too be much more work over there than here... just trying to find out all costs associated with living over in NZ...

what is the story with motor tax and test do you need to MOT vehicles annually.

Apart from rent are you guys screwed with rates i.e. water, electricity, heat??

I see most properties are unfurnished, is furniture expensive there...

cheaper over here for vehicles, 6 monthly wof (mot) thats a breeze to pass, then just registration and road user charges for diesels.
no salt used on our roads so no rust problems.
rent covers water but power is payed by you, heating is just electric or wood fires

furnitures not really expensive unless buying imported big fancy stuff

Got on good... Hopefully Skype interview with actual employer next week... Thinking of actually just trying to go direct to employer now instead of agency as another option...
