  • Automatic door locking ?

    Folks,

Is this an actual function of a Gen3 Surf or a fault ?

When I use the remote key fob to unlock the doors, but only open the tailgate after moving spare wheel carrier, the front and passenger doors will lock themselves after about 15 seconds !!!

This would not bother me too much but if I then close the tailgate it is then locked !!!

Again not an issue unless the keys have been left inside the truck! Then it could be a major issue !

So is this a fault or a function ?

    Cheers + ATVB

Just a thought but when you open the tailgate does the light in the boot come on?
Sometimes certain alarms won't deactivate properly if there is no drop in voltage + on some you need to open the drivers door first to stop re-activation.
If its not broke don't fix it.

Mine locks all doors after about 15 seconds of starting the engine.

I think it's a safety thing as the designer was from the hood!

####es me off to be honest.

      I have a Toad alarm. What's yours?

No the boot light doesn't come on and that was another project on the to do list.

I will open the drivers door first and repeat then procedure see what happens.

I am not sure what alarm / immobiliser it is fitted, but the doors do not lock when mobile. I used to have a car that did that and activated once a certain (low maybe 5mph) was reached.

        Thank you for the suggestion.

        Best regards.

        Philip

Ahh yes the Ai606 what a pain when you start the truck & the misses is faffing around & as soon as she gets to the door it locks her out.

If you start the truck with the drivers door open it won't do it, just a little tip for you.

            Great tip!

Although I wish I could just stop it. I'll check the destructions.

Sorry for the mini hijack, Philip

              Brilliant !

Opening the drivers door did solve the "problem" !

Rather pleased, doesn't need fixing, I just need to remember how it works and maybe fix the courtesy light in the boot.

              Many thanks.

              Philip

PS no problem re the mini-hijack...It all helps everyone out.

The auto locking after starting engine can be turned off, but the re-arm and auto lock if drivers door isn't opened can't be.

                    Yup...reading the manual confirms.

Bit of fun to do it, though.

The boot light works on and off using the switch but doesn't when the tail gate is opened and the switch set to 'door' !

                      I shall investigate.

                      Have a nice day folks.

Think it's time to get the big hammer out, the one that says "ya will work ya B#####D" written on the handle.
