  • Air Filter Housing/Bucket Broken. The Norm?

Just noticed this yesterday whilst removing some nasty DIY wiring.

Not sure what you call the housing unit...but it has cracked through, what I suspect is, constant vibration.

    Is this common?

Not that common, but I've seen a few on here over the years.
Never seen one first hand though.

Probably caused by weak/deteriorated engine mounts and/or sticking solenoids on the throttle body that control smooth engine shut down.

I suspect engine mounts as it does have a very obvious vibration.

Fingers crossed question: Can these be replaced without the need to move too much stuff?

            Hmm...interesting: http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/showthread.php?t=77907

Me thinks a search for a flexi tube could be in order.

I may have one here somewhere, if I can find it it's yours for £2 plus postage costs.

Mine is cracked in exactly the same place, was when I got it. I think it's down to the aftermarket connecting hose being too rigid.

That's the one. Blue silicone hose. The Toyota item is flexible so absorbs the movement.
Having said that, it hasn't got any worse in six months so I shall continue to ignore it.
