Mercedes horsebox

Just one for members who have horses, I have an old 1985 814 horsebox, that has given me a headache! apparently when the batteries lose charge the solenoid goes into some safe mode and will lock the ignition keys in the barrel??.
thats what a merc mechanic told me, Anyway I put new batteries on, and now I have no power at all??? .

Do you mean no lights on dash? No offence meant but are the batteries fitted the right way round and link cable fitted ok? Have you checked all your fuses/trips which ever is fitted?
