  • Is there a closet shiny club?

With some of my Xmas money burning a hole in my pocket and for no other reason than to acquire another power tool, I have decided on the purchase of a power polisher and to be more precise a random orbit polisher.

I have given the truck a close inspection of the paintwork and apart from the roof which is looking a bit faded but is only normally seen from my bedroom window, and apart from some marks that have been made from tree branches which I hope will polish out, the only other area of real concern is some of the clear coat is missing from the passenger side wing near to the door panel, this is the size of a 50 pence piece.

The paint underneath appears in good condition.
Now there are plenty of posts on the forum with regard to paint codes but would I be correct in assuming that a good quality clear lacquer is all that is required and not some Toyota specific lacquer?

Or do I get a quote from a bodywork specialist and let them fleece me?

I run a clay bar over my helmet last night.

Then finished it with some light rubbing.

    Hope this helps.

If laquer is missing then really you can't just put fresh laquer over the top as it will seal the edges in but you'll still see the area . It needs to be feathered out then a dust of base coat and then relaquered

After I have dried off the keyboard from the tea I just coughed up, can you suggest a good local supplier of eye bleach?

Thanks for the tip I could get my local paint shop to make up the base to match my colour code and a lacquer to suit.
