  • Driving lamps and shockers recommends?

    Hi all
A colleague of mine has a HDJ80 and is after some 100watt driving lamps to be mounted to front nudge bar. Has anyone out there got any recommendations or ones they don't want?

Also I am looking to swap springs and shocks on my gen 3, had a look at roughtrax and they keep the Rancho and Monroe, The Rancho's appear to be oil filled, is there any benefit between the 2. Again anyone had any experience with them. Or can you suggest another brand or supplier.

Hoping to get it all swapped before MOT, also make my ride a little more comfortable.

    Regards

    Andy

Hello, Andy. Just put Rancho's on my 2nd gen. Ride quality is much improved.

I have the Monroe +2" coil kit, and wish I hadn't bought it.

I see they have changed the springs now, so maybe its better,

But I'd give the Rancho kit a go.
        More Lift.
        More Tyres.
        More Engine.

Any reason why you don't like the Monroe set up?
          .... Which was nice.

Wasn't going to lift, just replacing stock heights. Don't think it needs a lift, sits fine as it is on the road. The Rancho's aren't going to break the bank more than the Monroe ones.

What was wrong with the lift kit? I think it stresses the front CV's a little too much personally, but I will no doubt be advised otherwise.

Andy, how do.I fitted two BOREMAN spots(with angel eyes) to the front of mine with 130 watt bulbs. They are stainless so no rust, but they are around £60 each,so be warned.Got them from a firm called VANTAGE ONE in Kings Bromley,Staffs................ But they are very bright!!!!!!

Finally got round to replacing the rear shocks on my gen 3.

I have gone for the Rancho ones. The shocks appear to be oil filled and come compressed in the box. Hard to extend but easy to compress. Is this normal for the Rancho.

The ride quality doesn't seem any better, actually feels worse, like it tends to bottom out easier due to the shocks compressing really easy. Or are the springs on their last legs as well.

The ride overall is really bumpy and jittery. Small ruts and holes shake the car quite badly.

Was hoping the rear would feel better before outlaying more money on front shocks. Or do I spend the money and fit some uprated rear springs.

                  Regards

The shock you talk of is I assume the new rancho dampers.
The damper stops the spring (shock) from opening to quickly after compression.

That is why the damper compresses easier than it extends.

If you feel its bottoming out you have knackered springs. A damper should never be used as a bump stop.
