well i thought i'd better have a bash at fitting my cb in the space under the radio

with no avail looks like my cb is longer and hits off the air ducts for the heating and couldnt get it to fit right

so that buggers my plans up lol

so im just gonna mount it under the ash tray

This is where I fitted mine. The radio is a single din with a flip screen. It doubles as the screen for a reversing camera.

The CB also works as a PA system with the loudspeaker under the bonnet. The aeriel has a permanent mount above the courtesy light inside the rear door. No problems with leaks.

The 5 switches are for power to the CB and 2-way, as well as for front and rear flashers and a siren (unused car alarm).

I thought these things went out with the advent of a mobile phone that could actually fit in your pocket.

Of course the correct answer is that you should fit it in a large metal bin, and then blow it up with as much PE4 as you can get your hands on, before having a stern word with yourself for ever having owned one in the first place

So you call in airstrikes on the ragheads on your mobile now?

Do you have to dial +93 first?

Each to their own. I suppose they do have their uses. I just have visions of a middle aged balding guy sitting in a shed talking to people he doesn't know

Mine is under the radio. Aerial is a magmount, usually in the cab but sometimes on the bonnet/roof depending on the brush.

Also got a couple of hand helds for when we have a spotter out or if someone comes along and hasn't got one.

I don't use it or even have the mike plugged in unless we're in convoy off roading.
