  • optima battery

had given some money to spent specific on 2 new optima batteries for my 94 3l.
    now:
-im not sure to get a red one and yellow one,

    -or 2 reds.

-i know between the red one and the yellow one there is a difference in 5ah

-im thinking to leave the wiring as is like it come factory (because i don't trust myself with that kind of electric jobs)

-plus got the winch connected on the battery of the driver side.

    any ideas or suggestions?

    thanks

      thanks for that,
now a bit more confused, thinking to put 2 yellow ones but i don't see any reverse terminals like on the red top
and suppose the blue ones are a bit too much.

        Take a look here-

Should have the terminal positiions of each battery.

I have the red top for starter batt and yellow top for leisure..I understand thats what optima suggest. I run both with isolators on the earth sides.

When stopped i isolate the red one. Next morning I isolate the yellow one...connect red...start..then re-connect yellow and off I go.

If its just starting I would get two reds...

I think in practical use there is little difference. All of the military vehicles I've worked on that use Optimas (the bigger vehicles in general seem to use Hawker) use yellows for both vehicle power and 'silent watch' power. In other words, they get used for starting AND for deep discharge on two separate systems, each using yellows.

From memory, this includes Husky, Jackal and Coyote. There will be reasons such as they only want one stores item, and they regularly mistreat / deep discharge them.

Good enough for them, good enough for you.

cool thanks i didn't realize it was that simple to do that with just an isolator (DUH!)in my brain was a lot of play with cables.

but because got enough i think i go for 2 yellows, just need to find the right one (code) for each side, with the right terminals.
