  • Values from people in the know?

    HI

I have a 92 2.4 auto. Not quite dead yet, have to top up water every couple of days. Thinking, head / head gasket failed.
Looking at price of parts to repair against sale of vehicle as is or in bits.

Some eBay prices seem a bit high for parts, but would value some feedback from long term users who are buying items.

I have now in vested in a Surf gen 3, so currently sat on drive pending a decision to break or sell.

    1. Value as whole with possible failed head / gasket

    2. Possible value for parts, eg turbo, injector pump, wheels tyres etc.

MOT runs out in next week.

Some pics to follow if I can add them to link.

    Regards

    Andy

I wouldn't pay more than £300 for it.

Another couple questions I feel which would be valid here:

        1) How much is the same truck worth with head issues repaired (i.e. new head)

        2) How much will it cost to get the truck to point 1 above

p.s. from the photos the truck looks quite nice and looked after. Would be a shame to break.
        Oh Nana, what's my name?

A V8 conversion would be nice, but again what is the cost to do, then there is the fun part of insurance.......

There are more dead 2.4s around than on the road. Unless you can store a whole car and not care about how long it will take to break I would sell it as a whole, or strip off anything you might have a use for and weigh the rest in.
