Looks like I need a turbo :(

Well as the title says new turbo needed. Have noticed a bit more smoke during acceleration recently took it out with the horse box yesterday and part way there got a lovely whistling and lost lots of go . Had a look at the turbo and has nice oil stain on the outside whipped the pipe off and found more play in the impeller than I like. Good job I ain't sold my passat yet surf is getting parked up for a bit

Mine is on the way out too. Any recommendations for a refurb? Turbo technica? Owen developments or somewhere less well known that anyone recommends?

Have found replacements offered for £200 on eBay.

ebay turbo's are still a mixed bag. some people have good luck with them, mine lasted all of 8 months. ended up recoing the original (they would not touch the ebay turbo) at about double the price the ebay turbo cost.

Gonna try a local place that does turbo repairs see what the price is and go from there.
