    Use distilled water unless you live in Scotland.

    If you get scale build up in your kettle then of course you should use distilled.
    Water from a dehumidifier you might have running in the home is perfect, and cheap.

    Changing coolant every year won't go amiss for anyone but those with higher than average mileage per year should do it more often.
    Around £30 to properly flush and replace once a year, it is nothing compared to the gallons of expensive fuel we pour into our trucks.

      First thing the tuner did was bring down his screw driver handle sharply across my mates knuckles. He then calmly switched off the engine and fitted one. He then explained that running without a 'stat was fine but you must run a 'retarder plate' to inhibit the water flow. Failure to do this, he said, often leads to water rushing through the front of the engine and not allowing the rear pots to receive any cooling.

      I suppose it makes sense in this case too.

          Toyota Super Long-Life Antifreeze/Coolant preotects your radiator and cooling system parts for an extended period of time.
          The number one cause to damage in cooling systems is the lack of coolant maintenance. Coolant intervals used to be two to three years at 24,000 to 30,000 miles. But, new coolant formulas have changed that standard.


          Mileage Standard
          The Toyota extended drain coolant, known as Toyota Super Long-Life Antifreeze/Coolant, distinctive in its pink colour, can go as long as 150,000 miles between changes. The more stable formula is similar to that used by Mercedes Benz, and does a better job of lubrication and cooling as well.

          Time Frame
          The extended drain coolants can last up to five years. They should be changed at this point, even if you have not reached the 150,000 mile limit. Toyota recommends replacing your coolant with the genuine Toyota coolant, although Toyota coolant is offered by aftermarket companies that also meet or exceed Toyota specifications.
