Who do you lot use for insurance?

I'm struggling to insure IV, my best quote has ben £500 ish.

Please, don't clutter this with "Try Acme, I use them for my Micra" type junk; I only want advice from folk who know about my specific question.

Flux are the only people I've been able to get anything "reasonable" off.

31, 9 years no claims, fully comp, offroad/greenlane cover, unlimited mileage, drive other vehicles, European cover, etc. is over £800 for me.

It is parked in a postcode that all insurance companies don't seem to like.

They've always been decent when I need to speak to them and the "extras" on the policy make me feel a bit better about it costing so much.

They even stuck occasional business use on for nowt when I asked.

Mine is with Sureterm Andy. Can't remember exactly how much off the top of my head (and anyway it varies so much from person to person that that probably isn't that useful), but it is in the sensible if not cheap bracket - £350 odd IIRC.
That is with little or no no-claims though (I have all my no-claims on my wife's car)...
I have a restricted mileage (5000 mpa) and big voluntary excess...

Seems my idea of reasonable doesn't match with most peoples'!

        For comparison, a '96 BMW 316 cost me 400 TPF&T.

                  A wee update -

Admiral - We don't insure modified vehicles.
Dazley - Stupid money, over 3 times what GRaham was paying.
                  Sureterm - £1,200

Nobody else (so far) will quote.

Biggest problem is the truck not appearing on the insurance database.

Have you spoken to Swinton? They have a 'specialist' vehicle division that insures the unusual.

It exists on the DVLA website and here.......

God knows what's going on with it, it's becoming tiresome. Had the MOT issue, now the insurance.

It comes up on any DVLA searches but it's not on the MOT or insurance databases. I always thought they were the same thing.

Swinton won't cover it, there are too many modifications. They only cover a maximum of 2. IV has (according to them) modified:

                              Engine
                              Gearbox
                              Fuel
                              Exhaust
                              Interior
                              Wheels
                              Tyres
                              Bumpers
                              Bodywork
                              Body Lift
