  • Removal of fuel tank

As I posted a few days ago, I needed to remove the fuel tank and clean it out etc, well done that today, with a little help as shown, bit of overkill i know. Surf is running fine now.

Wouldn't mind cleaning mine out at some point but I am struggling to get the "fuel tank removal tool" you showed in your picture, even Halfords don't have one!

How long did the job take, and was it fairly straight forward?

            tank removal

Well the surf is running better now and no loss of power, there was a bit of crap in the tank Arron, just hard to get it cleaned properly through the three holes (breather, sender and pickup pipe). The filter on the end of the pipe up pipe was clogged, it was rolling round the tank, after blowing back with an airline earlier. As to how long it took, once drained with a syphon, 2 hrs to remove, the problem being the filler neck through a clamp affair, that was rusted solid. So cut that off, when I got the tank out. Tank replaced in 1 hour, so not a bad job in all. The tank removal tool as available for hire at £300 per hour.
