Morning all, just had a fella on the phone who wants my Surf, all he wanted was aircon details ! Said he will fetch a transporter from the Midlands and pick up the truck, then export it to Ghana. Told him it would be cash only (as it sounded a bit like one of those email scam type things), he said ok to cash. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar offer or been stung? The only thing I can see going awry is dodgy money, the business I'm in means I handle a good bit of cash so spot duff stuff pretty easily, also got UV note checkers etc. Any thoughts or advice anyone?

A bank transfer will come direct from his account into yours so there shouldn't be any problems.I have given my details to people to pay money in and it is safe.If for any reason something should happen then the bank will/should cover anything.
I would personally go for the bank transfer or get him to pay cash direct into your account and then you can draw out on it right awayhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/henpals/

Thanks for all your input guys, it looks like he wants to complete tonight, but when I suggested he comes to my pub/restaurant (plenty of people around, CCTV, counterfeit note detection etc) he ummmed and ahhhed a bit.... Who knows.... He's fetching someone who can drive it on trade plates so maybe its all kosher. Will take his cash and give it a thorough check first, get him and his car on camera and then part with keys. Thing is, if he hadn't suggested he was exporting it to Ghana, and I believed he was just a regular bloke wanting to do the deal, I would have no hesitation about it.
Will update later anyway, but if anyone does know if this is one of those regular scams, do shout up. Cheers all.Started wi' nowt and still got most of it left!

dont know if it helps but i had an equally dodgy sounding situation last year selling a landcruiser.A romanian guy bought it on the basis of 4 photos and my fairly detailed and truthful description on e bay.Never spoke to me in person just a couple of e mails. He then send another random romanian with a low loader to pick it up.this guy spoke no english at all and just gave me an envelope full of brand new 50 pound notes which i checked as well as i could whilst he was loading the motor.Unbelievably they were all good and in hindsight probably one of the most straight forward deals i,ve ever done.this may have been an exception to the rule!

How did you get on with the sale???
I've sold a couple of hilux pick-ups to black lads who exported them to Africa. They're mad for Hilux's out there...... Both times they collected the jeep the following day and paid cash. They always start low with the offer, but will come up a lot as there is such a demand for them.
It's a fairly common experience here in Ireland, so I presume it's the same in the UK.
P.s. Anytime you see video footage of of africa/the middle east civil war, etc, etc you'll see a pick up with TOYOTA across the back of the tailgate (and often with 10 lads and a machine gun bolted to the bed in the back!!!)92 Manual, 93 auto, 03 Dual Cab, 95 Single Cab

Worried?...me?...well, a tiny bit!! Buyer was a Cameroonian (?!) but all my preconceptions were unfounded. Did the deal, checked every note, all good, signed docs and off he went. He did want fifty quid knocked off tho, as there was hardly any diesel in it! Told him to take it or leave - he'd driven two hours to me so a deal had to be done or he'd have wasted his time. Anyway, upshot is, all to the good, and thanks guys for all your commentsStarted wi' nowt and still got most of it left!
