You have an airplane sat on a huge conveyorbelt. the conveyor belt is computer controlled such that the speed is always the same as that of the aircraft only backwards. eg, if the plane is moving forwards at 10MPH the belt moves at 10MPH backwards - Would it take off?

Assumptions:
1 the aircraft is otherwise normally capable of flying and the pilot is capable of flying it
2 the belt would be more than long enough for the plane to take off if it wasn't moving
3 there are no obstructions
4 the plane is at sea level, the air is still and the conditions are perfectParanoid? They're out to GET YOU!

but vince, the wheels on a plane are free wheeling and the power or thrust is provided by the engines... surely the conveyor belt wil just move at double the speed, there is no force acting against the engine power.. ultimatley moving at infinite speed.Paranoid? They're out to GET YOU!
