  • My Surf was stolen last night

So please be aware people. Just because they're old and have little real World value, they are of huge value to the scumbags who will nick them in order to steal high value caravans and plant etc.

Blue Surf, reg M521 AAR stolen from Sittingbourne, Kent, just in case anyone is offered something

Cheers all, I very much doubt I'll see it again and I'm not even sure I'd want it back after they've abused it.

Great shame though, I've never, ever kept a car longer than 18 Months before. But, I would've had the surf 5 Years come December, it was just perfect for everything I asked of it

                    Sorry to hear that fella.

My fingers are crossed they will make a mistake and get caught. I would imagine it is still in one piece somewhere, as you said, these are nicked for towing so probably won't have been wragged around a council estate and torched immediately afterwards.

Got my eyes open up here for ya.

Did you have an alarm system or immobiliser on the vehicle?

                          Cheers all

No, it didn't have any security on it. It did have a Thatcham 1 alarm/immobiliser on it when I bought it, which was handy as Direct line wouldn't insure it without.

It started playing up after a while though and when I switched insurers I had it removed. Benefit of hindsight eh?...

Seriously though, do take it as a warning to secure your car if you can. I've always assumed that being such a solid old lump it would be quite difficult to nick. But, I'm a very light sleeper, the bedroom windows were open and the truck was parked about 50 yards from the house when they popped the window, (presumably) smashed the barrel off and had it away, I didn't hear a thing

EDIT: Just had the phone call, it was found burned out last night.
