        On what level?

        Musically, yes, a lot of it was (with many exceptions).

        As a vehicle for youth expression, it was bigger than pretty much any musical genre before or since.

          It only lasted three years.

          It was just ranting, similar to modern rapping but with skanky people.

            It's influences lasted way longer. There's not much recent white western music not influenced by punk.

            Nah its not similar. Everything now is produced with one eye on the cash, and doesn't happen at all unless a Simon Cowell type person thinks he can make a bob. It's all shit.

              Aggree, it's all business now! how they can call some of these tw@ts "pop stars" is a joke, i heard Jedward described as pop stars the other day, i mean ffs, watched the thing about the Bee Gee's, now they were stars,
