Has anybody here ever repaired GRP Boat Hulls before ? I have just about finished mine and may I say very theraputic indeed.
I had what I thought was a small hole in the keel, which ended up being about 60mm x 35mm. So hot melted ally reinforcing mesh into the hole, gelcoat filler sanded smooth "dont get on hands" followed by two coats of fine fibreglass matting. Also to gild the lilly as it were I rolled shaped and bonded 3mm thick Stainless Steel bar from the top of the stern all the way along the keel to the bow, this will protect from my sometimes rough landings and winching onto the trailer etc. Just waiting for the undercoat to dry then on with the Oxford Blue and Jobs a good un. All ready for June the 16th and a spot of Lure Fishing, My favourite .................
